Unincorporated Common Interest
Development Associations

Pursuant to Civil Code section 1363.6, an unincorporated association formed to manage a common interest development under the Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act (for example, a homeowners' association) must file a Statement by Common Interest Development Association (Form SI-CID) with the Secretary of State biennially in the month of July of odd years.

Please note, an unincorporated association formed to manage a common interest development is required to file Form SI-CID even though the association is not currently required to register as an unincorporated association with the Secretary of State's office.

Upon changing its status to a corporation, the association must comply with the filing requirements for incorporated common interest development associations. Statutory filing provisions are found in Civil Code section 1363.6.

Please refer to the instructions included with Form SI-CID for specific information regarding the filing requirements for both incorporated and unincorporated associations formed to manage a common interest development.
